We’re excited to introduce the latest version of our network inventory system – NetStork 15. This update brings key improvements for telecom operators.
NetStork 15 includes comprehensive support for CWDM/DWDM technology, advanced integration capabilities, streamlined data flow, and enhanced information consistency. Keep reading to discover what’s new!
Full Support for the WDM Technology
NetStork now offers full support for CWDM/DWDM technology. Users can register WDM devices in the system along with their detailed specifications and how they transmit various wavelengths between input and output ports.
In the WDM device specification editor, you can define which wavelengths are assigned to specific ports. The editor supports both CWDM wavelength definitions and DWDM channel numbers.
Additional WDM enhancements:
- Trace signals using any wavelength or channel number with the enhanced tracing engine.
- Create alien lambda relations and services, allowing you to define relations on specific wavelengths and visualize them in optical schemas.
- View WDM devices and standard splitters directly on rack schemas.
- Full support and visualization of both regular and DUAL (Rx/Tx) ports on schemas.
Support for Integrations with External Systems
NetStork 15 simplifies integration with other platforms, such as CRM, billing, or network management systems.
The new universal mechanisms enable quick and reliable data exchange with systems that use relational databases. These mechanisms include:
- Bidirectional, Automated Data Synchronization
- Synchronizing data from external systems to NetStork
NetStork 15 includes a new flexible tool that allows you to connect with external databases via the ODBC protocol and export data into CSV files based on any SQL query. This data is then automatically loaded into NetStork using the standard CSV loader tool and selected loading projects. - Synchronizing data from NetStork to external systems
The same tool enables reverse data synchronization. By leveraging HTTP/REST APIs from external systems, you can safely and consistently transfer NetStork data to other platforms.
In summary, bidirectional, automated data synchronization in NetStork boosts operational efficiency by eliminating manual data exchange, reducing work time, and minimizing the risk of errors. With support for various data sources, the system seamlessly integrates with almost any CRM, billing, or network management platform. Its synchronization mechanisms ensure data consistency, timeliness, and accuracy across both connected systems.
- Viewing Data from External Systems in NetStork
By using HTTP context requests, users can open web browser containing current object data directly within the external system. This mechanism is fully customizable through the NetStork’s descriptions configuration functionality. URLs are dynamically generated based on the same rules used for object descriptions. The only requirement is that the external system has a web application supporting HTTP contextual requests.
All this allows you to easily configure integrations with various external systems. - Viewing NetStork Data in External Systems
With NetStorkWeb’s new context requests support, you can open the application directly from external platforms using prepared URLs linked to specific objects. External systems can be extended to use HTTP requests that launch NetStorkWeb with detailed information on selected infrastructure or equipment.
With this function, you can quickly access technical, spatial, and schematic data without manual searches.
Data in both systems can be integrated using attributes such as ID, name, or label. NetStork also provides an ext_id attribute on almost each object, allowing you to store corresponding IDs or names from external system. Additionally, objects can be identified using geographic coordinates.
Integrating data as described above simplifies information retrieval and helps minimize the risk of errors during lookup data in associated systems.
Further Improvements in NetStork 15
- Optical schemas on data reports are now printed in higher resolution
- Additional address fields for buildings, enabling more detailed address management
- Coordinate-based object identification when using the CSV loader
